My first visit to the NKI/Antoni van Leeuwenhoek hospital for a blood test in preparation of the CT scan. This is because I have a little hole in my heart. Confronting place, with bald-headed patients and sad relatives walking in the corridors. But also overly cheerful staff (no, they are not Canadians) and state of the art equipment. Despite all that, there are some hiccups as my case has not been entered into the system yet and I have to give a blood sample based on a number scribbled on a yellow post-it. Feels like I am back (home?) in Africa again...
