Wednesday 18 March

This afternoon a 'colposcopy' is planned (meer informatie over colposcopie). We bring the children right after school to my mum's and Fred accompanies me ('bag holder') to the hospital. On a monitor we can see what the image of the cervix thru a microscope looks like. The gyneacologist, after swiching the screen off, ha ha ha) takes some small tissue samples from the outside and inside of the cervix for further study. He discusses the results of CT scan, x-ray and blood analysis with us. All looked good, i.e. no cancer growth visible and no indicator values in the blood. He does promise though, that if none of the tests gives a positive result (meaning: proof of cancer), he will keep on searching until a satisfactory explanation is found of the presence of cancer cells in the pap smear.
